Wheels up, Vannah!

Dogs too big for cabin of plane

Her flight is booked. We made the decision to cancel the attempt to charter our own plane and arrange travel for 10 other passengers. The gamble of securing 6 more in just two weeks was too great. And so we booked a seat with K9 Jets ( a pay-per-seat, not per-plane, private charter for pets), now leaving in May. We will have to drive from Atlanta to New Jersey, destination Milan.

On to the residence dilemma. Dream AirBnbs, from Sicily to the Dolomites… cancelled. We opted for a more grounded solution—a one-year lease for a charming apartment nestled in the pulsating heart of Bologna. The perks? A delightful café serenading us from below, and the promise of pedestrian convenience, obviating the need for a car. After all, in a city that proudly wears the crown of the global epicurean capital, it would be a culinary sacrilege to abstain. The lease must begin on the same date of arrival in Italy (this was another obstacle worth mentioning, in case you are reading this for similar relocation research).

In four days we head to Miami, with over a hundred documents in tow, for our interview with the Italian Consulate. Fingers crossed because there’s no going back now. Also, if I ever lose interest in photography (unlikely), I certainly could have a future as a travel agent.
